**MPAC Women in Sport**

~Run. Throw. Jump. Belong.~

The MPAC Women in Sport programs are designed to welcome women of all ages, abilities and experience levels into athletics, whether you’re returning to sport, trying something new, or looking for a supportive and social training environment.

*What’s been happening*

Our programs have already had a fantastic start, with strong participation and even stronger connections forming between members.

*5km Track Sessions*

Led by Gaye Vendy, our 5km track program helped women build confidence, fitness and enjoyment in running, with many discovering (or rediscovering!) a love of parkrun. Several members continue to meet up for training once a week before work.

*Parkrun + Brekkie Socials*

Off the back of the 5km program success, women are now also enjoying a once-a-month local parkrun, followed by breakfast or coffee. It’s fitness, friendship and fun all in one.

*Track & Field Coaching*

With Rhiannon Lester, women had the opportunity to explore the craft of track and field events, including shot put, discus, javelin and more. For many, it was their first time learning these skills and they loved it, for others the first time since school! Members have continued to meet with Rhiannon and work on developing their skills and enjoying time to connect.

*Ongoing Coaching and Competition Opportunities*

Several women are continuing their learning and development through coaching sessions at our Mornington track, building skills, confidence and community. Our Women in Sport programs welcome recreational runners while also offering clear pathways into competition. Women can choose to stay social or progress into AVSL, XCR or Masters competition, supported by coaching, skill development, and a strong, inclusive club culture.
Education & support

We’re also excited to have education sessions coming up, supporting women to learn more about athletics, training, and participation in a welcoming and inclusive way. Educations are held online or inperson at our Clubrooms in Mornington.

*Supported and funded*

Many of our Women in Sport programs are proudly funded through the Change Our Game grant and made possible through the dedication of our coaches and volunteers, who are passionate about creating positive sporting experiences for women.

*Join us*

If you’re looking for a club where women are encouraged, supported and celebrated, whether you want to run, throw, learn, socialise or simply give it a go, MPAC welcomes you.
